Dear media representatives and interested public,
we invite you to a press conference on the progress and results of the project CLAUSTRA+ (Cross-border destination of cultural and green tourism Claustra Alpium Iuliarum), which will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the National Museum of Slovenia – Metelkova (Maistrova ulica 1, Ljubljana).
The claustra Alpium Iuliarum is a late Roman barrier system that controlled the passageways to the heart of the Roman Empire. The archaeological remains of the system run at intervals from Rijeka in Croatia to the Soča Valley in Slovenia, and represent a remarkable example of connecting architecture with the natural environment. The main objective of the project is to increase the visibility of this stunning heritage as a common destination for cultural and green tourism.
At the press conference we will present the main achievements of all partners and results of the project team of the National Museum of Slovenia, including 3D reconstructions, archaeological excavations, conservation of individual sections of the system and many others.
Speakers:
– mag. Barbara Ravnik, Director of the National Museum of Slovenia,
– Damjana Pečnik, Head of the Development Department at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, and
– Jure Kusetič, project manager at the National Museum of Slovenia.
