Read about the newest discoveries of the barrier system!
The final publication about claustra Alpium Iuliarum was published a few months ago. It contains several interesting articles about the recent archaeological investigations of the late roman barrier system and a synoptic leading article about CAI.
Our objective within the publication was to present the gathered archaeological data that has formed the foundation for the development of the Cross-border destionation of cultural and green tourism Claustra Alpium Iuliarum – the main result of our project CLAUSTRA+.
The latest investigations, some of which were finished only months ago, studies and interpretations will likely develop to their full maturity in the coming years, but clues and perspectives are already clearly evident and raise new research questions: “… claustra patefacta sunt Alpium Iuliarum” [… the barriers in the Julian Alps were opened].
